Baking Soda also referred as sodium bicarbonate, is primarily used in baking, as a leavening agent. It reacts with acidic components in batters, releasing carbon dioxide, which causes expansion of the batter and forms the characteristic texture and grain in pancakes, cakes, breads and other baked and fried foods.

In a medium size bowl, sift 1½ cups icing sugar and 3 tsp cocoa together. Add 5 tsp melted butter and add ½ cup milk to make a good spreading consistency.
